Sports Premium Allocation 2015-2016

Sports Premium Information 2015-2016

The four objectives of the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding are: To improve the quality of existing PE teaching through continuing professional learning in PE for generalists, so that all primary pupils improve their health, skills and physical literacy, and have broader exposure to a range of sports

  1. To increase participation levels in competitive sport and healthy activity of pupils, and maintain these into adolescence
  2. To increase the quality of initial teacher training in PE and sport, and to promote PE specialisation in primary level workforce
  3. Schools understand and value the benefits of high quality PE and sport, including its use as a tool for whole school improvement.
  4. Schools understand and value the benefits of high quality PE and sport, including its use as a tool for whole school improvement.

In 2015 – 2016 we were allocated £8116 and plan to spend the funding on:-

  • Investing in the Durham School Sport Partnership Service Level Agreement (£2500 per year)
  • After school sports clubs (£500)
  • Purchase of sports equipment (£500 + additional resources as needed)
  • Membership of Cyber Coach website to develop fitness (£100)
  • Purchase of medals, trophies and other rewards to encourage participation in sporting events (£50)
  • Transport to sporting events (£300)
  • Purchase of a full PE kit for every pupil in the school and a washing machine so that we can wash the kits in school (£1500)
  • Real PE programme (recommended by the Local Authority) (£2200)

Impact of spending

After school sports clubs which were run by funded Sports Coaches were well attended across the year. Children were able to develop their skills to support them when competing against other schools in our area.

Inter-school tournaments were attended throughout the year with our local cluster of schools. Teams from school participated in Tag Rugby, Cricket and Multi-skills tournaments.

Staff are becoming increasingly skilled in the teaching of PE. Lesson observations showed that teachers were able to use Core Tasks effectively in lessons to improve the skills of the children.
